If you’re tired of your tape not sticking, or if you find yourself constantly having to reapply it, then this blog post is for you. There are a few simple tips and tricks that can make a world of difference when it comes to making your tape stick better. Follow these tips and you’ll never have to worry about your tape coming loose again.

Use a different tape

The first thing you should be thinking about is what type of tape are you using. There are many different tapes available on the market, coming in different sizes, materials and adhesives. Some tapes are stronger, others are designed for outdoors use. Some tapes are made specifically for adhering to difficult surfaces. So, if you want to make your tape stick better, it’s important to choose the right one for your needs. A guide such as this one will provide a great help.

Also, make sure the roll of tape you’re using is not too old! Adhesive tape is designed to last long, but not indefinitely. Rolls of tape will deteriorate over time, with their glue losing its adhesive properties. This is especially true for rolls that have been exposed to sunlight, heat or cold.

Clean the surface

Make sure that the surface is clean and dry before applying tape. If there is any dirt or grease on the surface, it will prevent the tape from sticking properly. To clean your surface, start by washing it with rubbing alcohol. Make sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards with a soft cloth.

Keep in mind that some surfaces just make it difficult for tape to stick, no matter how much you’ve cleaned them. PVC or concrete will most likely require a specific tape, as a general purpose one will not work. Rough surfaces of any kind don’t make good contact with the tape and require the use of a product with stronger, thicker adhesive.

Mind the temperature

General purpose tape won’t stick properly at low temperatures. It will become brittle and dry, and peel within days. This is because the adhesive freezes in the cold, gradually turning into a tack-free solid. If you are dealing with cold surfaces, you’ll need to warm them up somehow (you can apply heat with a hairdryer) or use a tape that’s specifically designed for low temperatures.

Apply it properly

If you want your tape to stick better, you need to apply it correctly. Adhesive tape uses what’s called pressure sensitive adhesive. This means an even pressure needs to be applied over its full width in order for a secure bond to form. Use a smooth, even motion to apply the tape. After the application, you can use a roller or your fingers to press it down. This will make sure there are no air bubbles under the tape.

If you follow the tips in this article, your tape should stick to any surface and not come off easily. This will help you avoid any potential frustration or wasted time, and will ensure that your tape does its job properly. Thanks for reading!
