Loctite 511 Thread Sealant

Loctite 511 is a single component, low strength thread sealant specifically designed for the locking and sealing of metal threaded pipes and fittings. Its thixotropic formula, based on dimethacrylate ester, cures anaerobically when confined between closely fitted metal threads up to M80/R3”. This process ensures a durable seal that prevents loosening and leakage. The low strength of Loctite 511 allows metal threaded fittings to be easily disassembled using hand tools.

Loctite 511 Thread Sealant is designed to operate effectively within a broad temperature range, from -55°C to 150°C, making it versatile for diverse environments. Whether in extreme cold or heat, this thread sealant performs consistently. Additionally, Loctite 511 is DVGW-approved for gas applications.

How to use Loctite 511 Thread Sealant:

1. For best results, apply to a clean, degreased surface.
2. If using on inactive metal or curing speed is too slow, use an activator spray such as Loctite SF 7649. Allow it to dry.
3. For thru holes: Apply several drops of Loctite 511 onto the bolt at the nut engagement area.
4. For blind holes: Apply several drops of product down the internal threads to the bottom of the hole.
5. For sealing applications: Apply a 360° bead of product to the threads of the male fitting.
6. Assemble and tighten as required.

Storage

Store Loctite 511 Thread Sealant in the unopened container in a dry location. Optimal storage: 8°C to 21°C. Storage below 8°C or greater than 28°C can adversely affect product properties.
