Fume Extraction Systems
Fume extraction systems are used to filtrate toxic fumes and dust particles from work environments. Many activities in the production process generate fumes. These include soldering, welding, painting, sanding and more. Exposure to particulates can lead to serious health problems. Fume extraction systems help make workspaces healthier and safer.
Conro offers a wide choice of fume extraction systems from major manufacturers such as BOFA.
Conro is an authorized distributor for BOFA.
How do fume extraction systems work
A fume extractor works by creating suction through an internal fan. The air is drawn into a filtration system and goes through one or more filters. The harmful particles are collected. The air is then released outside (ducted cabinet systems) or back into the work environment, purified from contaminants (ductless cabinet systems).
The filter is the most important part of an extractor. A high quality filter will catch more particles and make the air cleaner. Moreover, higher quality filters will not need to be replaced as often. This will lower maintenance costs and needs.
Types of fume extraction systems
A solder fume extractor should be chosen based on the type of work being performed and the space available. There are three main types of extractors:
· Cowl fume extractors. Designed for single-user workstations. They are mounted directly on the workbench. The fan catches the fumes before they reach the operator's breathing level.
· Arm extraction units. Versatile devices, ideal for most workspaces. The extracting arm (or arms) captures particulates at their origin. The particles are then filtered and expelled. Flexible arms allow to cover the work area, where fumes are generated.
· Digital fume extractors. These systems offer improved control on the extraction process. All functions are fully automatic. The user just has to set the airflow level on installation.
